Prerequisites

Participants should arrive with a foundational grasp of sustainability concepts and corporate reporting processes. Ideal candidates have at least one year of experience in a role that involves environmental, social or governance (ESG) considerations—such as CSR, finance, investor relations or regulatory affairs—and are familiar with basic financial statements and materiality assessments. A working knowledge of existing reporting frameworks (for example, the UN Sustainable Development Goals or the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) will help you engage more deeply with the GRI Standards’ structure and intent.

To ensure you get the most from this certified training program, we recommend completing the free GRI Fundamentals e-learning module beforehand and reviewing your organization’s most recent sustainability or annual report. Participants should also come prepared to apply the Standards to real-world scenarios; having a sample data set or past report from your own organization will allow you to practice drafting disclosures, conducting stakeholder engagement exercises and mapping metrics back to the GRI Universal, Topic-Specific, and Sector Standards.

Program Overview

GRI Standards Certified Training Program & Sustainability Reporting aims at providing the fundamental principles and methodological framework of GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards. It addresses all types of organizations, both public and private sectors, across all levels within the organizations.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting framework is the most trusted and widely used sustainability framework in the world. GRI Standards are used universally to measure and report on the economic, environmental, and social performance.

Thousands of companies and organizations of different sizes and industries apply GRI’s guidelines as an integral part of their core strategies in order to scale up their positive impact and value. The training program is provided by Dcarbon; the GRI Certified training partner in Egypt and the MENA Region.
